About one year ago an interesting hard shelled creature came into my house. The creature didn’t jump run, or even swim, but he walked, and he could disguise himself, he didn’t bite, and he ate my greens when I refused. He was about as big as a medium sized flower pot, and he smiled ear to ear. Well not ears, more like tiny holes you can’t see.

He doesn’t have a good sense of smell, or good eye sight for that matter, but he feels vibration like a hawk sees rats! You could be on the steps, he’ll be in his cage, and with one step you can hear him hide. He has many names, like the reptile, speedy guy, honey, hard shell, rocky, but the one most commonly used is Rocket. A tortoise named Rocket? How crazy is that? Well you may think it is weird, but it fits him like his shell! If you set him down in the grass he will go like 5 miles an hour just to get to the other side of the yard!

When I pick him up he lets me kiss his nose, and he likes to splash in shallow water. When I put the sponge in the bath, he puts his neck over it and rests! Who needs alarm clock’s when you have Rocket?! He bangs around in his cage like a mad man at 6 in the morning! He’s the coolest tortoise in the world! And he likes it when you scratch his back left foot, and when you feed him lettuce, his cute little tongue comes out and grabs it out of your fingers. He does this cute little thing when I wax him, he wiggles back and forth till I out you down!!

And hes the only tortoise in the world that winks! A lot of times it seems like I don’t care, or even notice. Defiantly won’t win mother of the year, but I really do care, even thought it doesn’t seem it. Rockets my pride, and my hero, he stole my heart and won’t give it back! I will try harder and harder until I get it just right. I love you with 100% of my heart!
